Show MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY HISTORY OCTOBER 2000 Strange month. Winter cannot decide if it wants to come early, while summer cannot decide if it wants to stay late. The unrest in the weather equals the unrest in the community over Legacy Highway. Legacy Highway is a new major transportation corridor proposed to go through the community at about 3000 West. This new highway would have a major impact on the community and the environment. Council President Holley worked hard to oppose the route through the community as it is currently proposed. Wasatch Front Regional Council staff who are making the alignment of the highway route, were invited this month to the community to address concerns of city officials and residents. It is hoped that input from that meeting will help realign the route to one less intrusive for the community. City staff is getting its first experience preparing a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG small cities program for 2001-2002) to construct a small sewer line on 250 North. Also, various land use regulations were reviewed by the Planning Commission and City Council. Many irrelevant and outdated portions of the old Weber County Zoning Ordinance adopted by the city are being repealed and revised to meet the needs of the community. |
