Show The Pioneer Post Volume II Issue 12 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter December 2000 1195 West 400 North, MSC, UT 84404 (627-1919, Fax 627-1880) Seasons Greetings from the Mayor I take this opportunity to wish everyone within Marriott-Slaterville City a Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy New Year. At this season of love and sharing. I thank all of you who have shared your time and talents at functions or at service for the city. Much service was rendered this year by residents serving as elected officials, board and committees members, and staff. Others served the city by attending meetings, expressing ideas on important matters, and supporting community functions such as the 1st Annual Founders Day Celebration in July. It takes the cooperation of many people to help our city perform. I look forward to the New Year as we grow out of our infancy stage and start to walk, maybe even run, to more exciting times in our city. I wish you all Peace, Prosperity, and Good Health. sincerely, Mayor Council's Christmas Message This is the time of the year we all contemplate and ponder many aspects of our lives. Whatever holiday you observe, it's a time of closeness and friendship. It's a time to reminisce about the past and plan for the future. As one year ends and another begins we all wonder where the time went, and how it seems to be passing more quickly this year than other years. "Where did the time go?" and "Can you believe it's almost January?" are common phrases overhead almost everywhere. In my family we celebrate Christmas with all the wonder and marvels it holds. My children are young enough that they still hold a sense of awe surrounding the event. Watching their faces takes me back to my childhood and the wonderful Christmases I spent with my family. If you haven't looked in a child's face and asked them if they're ready for Christmas, you're missing out. If you don't have little ones at home, I'm certain you know where you can find a child to ask. Do it, it renews the spirit. This is a wonderful time of year. If you're feeling down or left out, perhaps a message I received recently will help put things in perspective. Borrowing me of the points of that message, consider the following: If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back and a roof over you head, you're richer than 75% of the world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet or purse, and spare change in a dish or cup, you're among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy. If you woke up with more health than illness, you're luckier than the million or so that won't survive this week. The mere fact you're reading this message makes you more fortunate than more than two billion in the world who can't read. If you can attend church without fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death, you are more blessed than three billion people in the world. We may not have everything we want in this world, but we have opportunity to pursue it which, too, is really a blessing. May each and everyone of you have a joyous and happy holiday with family and friends, and may the New Year bring more blessings of health and prosperity than you can receive.
