Show Biography of Walter A. Allen (1907-1992) PRESENTATIONS AND AWARDS Special award honoring service of the late Deacon Walter A. Allen ACTIVITY AWARDS Bowl-A-Thon Division Winners Ages 5-8 Winner Ages 9-12 Winner Ages 13-17 Winner Ages 18-Adult Winner Highest Pledge Donation Deacon Walter A. Allen, originally from Chandler, Texas, united with the New Zion Baptist Church in Ogden, Utah, shortly after moving to Utah. As a member of New Zion, he served as Chairman of the Deacon and Trustee Boards; President of the Laymen’s Auxiliary; Senior Choir member; and member of the Male Chorus. As a member of the Laymen’s auxiliary, he became active in both district and national work. At the district level, Deacon Allen served more than ten years as Laymen’s President and President Emeritus. He was the lone messenger of the IGBA Laymen at the national level for many years. Deacon Allen served on many committees at the national level and received numerous awards for his faithful service. He once said that he enjoyed the devotional committee most of all. Because he could always be counted on to be present and ready to serve, laymen as "Mr. Utah." Deacon Our deepest thanks to each of you for supporting the Walter A.
