Show 28 WEBER COLLEGE ' I" WEBER COLLEGE 29 ROUTINE OF REGISTRATION Students desiring to register at Weber will first present themselves at the Registrar's office, where they will arrange for the necessary registration blanks. The students will then go to the heads of departments and arrange for their studies. All cards, when properly filled out, must be approved by the President and then filed with the Registrar. REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION (With the Degree of Associate of Arts or Associate of Science) Candidates for graduation from the Junior College must be of good moral character and must complete ninety hours of approved work. This must include English I and II, Physical Education 2a, 2b, 2c, and five hours from each of the following groups: Mathematics and physical science, biological science, language and social science. At least thirty hours must be earned in residence at Weber. Before a student can become a candidate for graduation, his record in the College must show: First, that he has satisfied the entrance requirements as prescribed above; secondly, that the collegiate work for which he has credit and pending credits, the completion of which is reasonably assured, together satisfy the requirements for graduation; thirdly, four-fifths of the grades earned by the student must be C or better. Stu dents who graduate with an average grade of 90% will be designated as honor students. College credit will not be given for any course completed in high school. All candidates for graduation are required to be present at commencement exercises unless excused by the President. No student will be allowed to register for more than seventeen hours of credit per quarter without special permission. Every student must take two hours in Theology per quarter unless excused by the President. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS The Education Department of Weber offers courses preparing prospective teachers for two elementary school certificates: a first class certificate valid for five years, and a second class certificate valid for two years. The first class certificate may be granted by the State Board of Education to graduates of approved two year Normal Courses which cover the following scholastic and professional requirements : Six quarter hours in physical and health education, nine hours in English, twenty-seven hours in psychology and professional education subjects, including practice teaching to the extent of twelve quarter hours. The second class certificate is granted to an applicant who has presented the prescribed high school subjects, and has completed one year of Normal or College work, including English composition, psychology, principles of education, practice teaching and health education. |
