The goal of Student Affairs is a commitment to solving student problems and helping students become aware of services, activities and programs available to them. The personnel in Student Affairs will assist in designing, developing, implementing and evaluating programs to expand the students' personal development and enrich co-curricular opportunities. This office provides leadership in administering a comprehensive range of programs and services. More specifically, the departments and programs reporting to the Dean of Students include: Services for Multicultural Students, Services for Students with Disabilities, Services for Women Students, Services for International Students, Programs and Services for Non-traditional Students, and Housing Services. In addition, the Dean of Students has responsibility for the Weber State University Student Association (WSUSA) and related student government activities. Increasing efforts to provide students at the Davis Campus with services and programs provided by Student Affairs also comes under the purview of this office. WSUSA is the university's official representative for all fee paying students and is committed to aggressively pursuing comprehensive internal and external student representation. WSUSA acknowledges dissimilar opinions by attempting to achieve a broad-based representation. WSUSA provides and supports programming and activities designed to involve and enrich the student body. WSUSA provides students with a variety of services and opportunities for community interaction and co-curricular learning unique to a campus setting. WSUSA is responsible to the student body of the university and provides answers and, whenever possible, solutions to student questions and concerns. Nineteen senators represent the following constituencies: Asian Pacific Islander, Applied Science & Technology, Arts & Humanities, Black Students, Business & Economics, Davis Campus, Education, Health Professions, Latino-Chicano- Hispanic Students, Honors, Integrated and General Studies, International Students, Native American Students, Non-Traditional Students, Students With Disabilities, Residence Halls Students, Science, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Traditional Students, and Veteran Students. Senators are involved in every aspect of University life including University Academic and Administrative Standing Committees, Faculty Senate, Student Fees, and campus programming. Student Senate meets every Monday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Senate Activities Nineteen academic and non-academic senators are required to present programs which highlight and serve either their constituencies or the campus community. The senators work in conjunction with their respective Deans, departments, and area councils to produce at least two programs per semester. These activities encourage more one-on-one interactions among students, faculty, and staff.
