Areas of Emphasis • Art Composite Teaching • Two Dimensional • Three Dimensional • Photography • Visual Communications/Design or Illustration » Program Prerequisite: Not required. » Minor: Required for General Art; not required for the areas of emphasis. » Grade Requirements: A grade of "C" or better in courses required for all majors and minors (a grade of "C-" is not acceptable). Art Teaching majors must achieve an overall GPA of 3.00 for admission to the Teacher Education program. » Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 122 credit hours is required for graduation. Of this total, 36-38 credit hours are required for the General Art major and 55-57 credit hours are required for each of the areas of emphasis. A total of 40 upper division credit hours is required (courses numbered 3000 and above) - 3-14 of these are required within the General Art major and 10-20 are required within each of the other areas of emphasis. Once the Foundation and Core have been completed, students can apply for the BFA portfolio review. This is held three times a year and is performed by the visual arts faculty. Information regarding the review is available in the visual arts office (Collett Art Building, Rm. 104). If not admitted to the program, students may reapply for review. After admittance, students plan their studio elective classes with the department chair and a faculty member from their emphasis area.
