Show • Electronic Engineering Tech Electronic Engineering Tech • General Information PROGRAM: ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY HONORS General Requirements: • Enroll in general Honors program and complete at least 10 hours of general Honors courses. • Maintain an overall GPA of 3.3. • Fulfill requirement for the Electronic Technology major leading to the associate of applied science or the Electronic Engineering Technology major leading to the bachelor of science degree. Specific Requirements: • The associate of applied science major must complete at least 25 hours in Electronic Technology courses on an Honors basis, 15 hours of which must be in 200 level courses. The Electronic Engineering Technology major must complete at least 25 hours of Electronic Engineering Technology courses on an Honors basis of which 10 hours must be 400 level courses. • The Electronic Engineering Technology major completes a senior Honors project. • All Electronic Technology courses are available on an Honors basis. Permission from the department chair should be sought before registering in a course for Honors credit. A written agreement should be reached with the appropriate professor regarding the work expected for Honors credit. (See the Interdepartmental Programs section of the catalog.) PROGRAM: ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY MINOR This program offers students who major in another field to obtain a minor in Electronic Engineering Technology. General Requirements: • A minimum of 32 EET credit hours are required. • A grade of C or better in all courses used toward the minor. Specific Requirements: . EET 111/111L (4), 121/121L (4), 122/122L (4), 132/132L (4), 212/212L (4), 232/232L (4), 412/412L (4), 452/452L (4). Check with the EET department chair for approval of substitue courses. ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY COURSES - EET 111. DC Circuit Analysis (3) A Introduction to DC circuit analysis. Scientific notation, basic circuit laws, theorems, magnetism, and DC measuring devices. Three one-hour lectures per week. Corequisite: EET 111L. Prerequisite: math 105 or equivalent. 111L. DC Circuit Analysis Lab (1)A Laboratory class to support EET 111. Construct and analyze basic electrical circuits using a multimeter. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 111. 121. AC Circuit Analysis (3) W Introduction to AC circuit analysis. Alternating voltage and current, inductance, transformers, capacitance, resonance, and AC measuring devices. Three one-hour lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 111 and Math 106. Corequisite: EET 121L. 121L. AC Circuit Analysis Lab (1) W Laboratory class to support EET 121. Construct and analyze AC circuits using an oscilloscope. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 121. 122. Digital Circuite I (3) W Introduction to digital electronics. Number systems, boolean algebra, logic gates, flipflops, multiplexers, sequential and combinational circuits, and digital measuring devices. Three one- hour lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 111 and Math 105 or equivalent. Corequisite: EET 122L. 122L. Digital Circuits I Lab (1) W Laboratory class to support EET 122. Construct and analyze basic digital circuits. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 122. 131. Electrical Power I (3) S Introduction to electrical power. AC power, power generation and distribution, multiphase, NEC codes, AC and DC motors, and power measuring devices. Three one-hour lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 121. Corequisite: EET 131L. 131L. Electrical Power I Lab (1) S Laboratory class to support EET 131. Construct and analyze basic electrical power circuits. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 131. 132. Digital Circuits II (3) S A continuation of EET 122. Counters, shift registers, state tables, timing diagrams, computer digital simulation, and digital measuring devices. Three one-hour lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 122. Corequisite: 132L. 132L. Digital Circuits II Lab (1) S Laboratory class to support EET 132. Construct and analyze digital circuits. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 132. 181. AC and DC Circuit Applications (3) A AC and DC circuit applications for non-EET majors. DC and AC theory, voltage, current, resistance, Kirchhoff s Laws, power, power factor, National Electrical Code, and circuit analysis concepts. Three one-hour lectures per week. Construct and analyze basic electrical circuits using a multimeter. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 181. 182. AC and DC Machines and Controls (3) W AC and DC machines and controls for non-EET majors. AC and DC motors, transformers, generators, alternators, polyphase circuits, stepper and servo motors, power factor, tests and measurements. Three one-hour lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 181. Corequisite: EET 182L. 182L. AC and DC Machines and Controls (1) W Laboratory class to support EET 182. Test and measure machine and control devices. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 182. 183. Power Electronics (3) S Power electronics for non-EET majors. Silicon controlled rectifiers, triacs, op-amps, interference and shielding, programmable logic controllers, motor controllers and starters, and feedback controls. Three lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 182. Corequisite: EET 183L. 183L. Power Electronics Lab (1) 5 Laboratory class to support EET 183. Design, construct, and test power electronics circuits. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 183. 211. Semiconductors I (3) A Introduction to semiconductor devices. Semiconductor diodes, bipolar transistors, field effect transistors, small signal models and analysis, PSPICE computer simulation, and small signal measuring devices. Three one-hour lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 121 and Math 107. Corequisite: EET211L. 211L. Semiconductors I Lab (1) A Laboratory class to support EET 211. Construct and analyze single transistor circuits. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 211. 212. Introduction to Microprocessors (3) A Introduction to microprocessors. Theory of operation, architecture, machine code programming, memory devices, input and out put devices, interfacing, and digital measuring devices. Three one-hour lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 132. Corequisite: EET212L. 212L. Introduction to Microprocessors Lab (1) A Laboratory class to support EET 212. Write assembly language programs to run on a microprocessor trainer. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 212. 221. Semiconductors II (3) W Continutation of semiconductor devices. Multistage systems, frequency response, large signal amplifiers, thyristors, operational amplifiers, regulators, power supplies, and measuring devices. Three one-hour lectures per week. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 221. 222. Interconnection Technology (1) W An introduction to electronic drafting and packaging. A study of the many different methods of interconnecting and packaging electronic components. Introduction to CAD for schematics and board layouts. One one-hour lecture per week. Prerequisites: EET 132 and 211. Corequisite: 222L. 222L. Interconnection Technology Lab (3) W Laboratory class to support EET 222. Draw schematics and lay out circuit boards using CAD software. Three two-hour labs per week. Corequisite: EET 222. 231. Communication Circuits I (3) W An introduction to radio frequency communication circuits. Oscillators, modulation, transmitters, receivers, transmission lines, antennas, RF propagation, and RF measuring devices. Three one- hour lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 221. Corequisite: EET 231. 232. Computer Design I (3) 5 Introduction to microprocessor design. Design and build a microprocessor based system using assemblers, cross assemblers, emulators, input and output devices, and digital analyzers. Three one-hour lectures per week. Prerequisite: EET 212. Corequisite: EET 232L. 232L. Computer Design I Lab (1) S Laboratory class to support EET 232. Design, construct, and analyze a microprocessor based system. One two-hour lab per week. Corequisite: EET 232. 233. Electronic Troubleshooting (1) S Introduction to electronic troubleshooting. Equipment specifications, factors affecting equipment reliability, troubleshooting components and systems, maintenance principles, and instruments used for troubleshooting. One one-hour lecture per week. Must be taken concurrently with EET 233L. Prerequisites: EET 212 and 221. 233L. Electronic Troubleshooting Lab (3) 5 Laboratory class to support EET 233.
