The membership of WSC Alumni lists great leaders in every field of endeavor: educators, scientists, businessmen, politicians, artists, musicians, actors, engineers and technologists. Successful men and women in all walks of life are proud to refer their WSC Alumni status. The history behind the Alumni Association is rich with dedication and purpose. However, much of the activities of the early organization of the college and preceding institutions are fleeting and rather vague. That there was such an association through the for- mative years as an academy or high school until college status in 1917 is attested by pictures and articles in yearbooks and other publication as early as 1902. The State of Utah lists the year of 1921 as the date of formal articles of incorporation. It is significant to note the role played by the Alumni in support and development of the new Campus in 1947. President Henry Aldous Dixon recognized the potential of an active organized association and enlisted the aid of its President, D. Ray Wilkinson, along with other community leaders in a drive for funds to match a legislative appropriation for a new Campus site. The highly successful drive saw $62,000 raised for the beginning of a new era at Weber. Following his appointment as College President in 1953 President William P. Miller was quick to realize the vital function of Alumni in Weber’s future. He encouraged and cooperated with the association in its expanding role.
