WEBER COLLEGE 41 Special Activities Directed By The Music Department Each year the department of Music concentrates its efforts upon development of one or more special projects. Heretofore, such efforts have resulted in trips to cities in the neighborhood of Ogden and often to distant places in other states. In 1931, the Girls' Glee Club and the Band went to Santa Rosa, California, making public appearances there and elsewhere in that vicinity. In 1932 a large band made an extended trip to the coast on a concert tour and played, through incidental arrangement, over the Columbia network from San Francisco. During the last three years, two three-act comic operas have been composed, developed, and staged by the Weber College Department of Music. These two productions have run through twenty-three performances in Northern Utah and Southern Idaho. The membership of these operas has been made up out of our Glee Club, Male Chorus, and Orchestra, and production work has been accomplished by the Music and Dramatic departments combined. |
