Students registering for Zoology 1 should not register for Zoology 4. ***It is recommended that courses be chosen to fill these requirements which require extensive reading, such as literature, and which give the student as much information as possible as background for medicine. About one-third of the medical schools of the United States require French or German. 97 Medical and Dental Assistants and Dental Laboratory Technician It is recommended that a student desiring to qualify as either medical or dental assistant or for dental laboratory technician consult the catalog of the school to which he will transfer; however, the following courses may be taken to apply toward these programs: Psychology 3, English 11, Political Science 1, 11, Orientation 1, Health Education 1, Physical Education 1 or 11, Home Economics 6, Chemistry 1, Bacteriology 1, Physics 10, Physiology 1 and Business 1. Dental Hygienists It is suggested that catalogs of accredited schools of dental hygienists be consulted for curriculum requirements in the field of training. The Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association includes the following type courses in their recommendations for the curriculum for dental hygienists: Bacteriology 1, 5, 10; Chemistry 1, 2, 3,; English 1, 2, 3; Health Education 1; Home Economics 6; Physical Education 1; Physiology 1; Psychology 1; Sociology 1; and Speech 1. Optometry, Pharmacy, Chiropody, and other Specialized Fields A student wishing to study Optometry, Pharmacy, Osteopathy, Chiropody, or other specialized fields may take general education courses at Weber College a background for his work. It is advisable to consult the catalogue of the school where work is to be completed and the staff members of the Zoology Department for more information. Medical Technology CURRICULUM Weber College offers two plans for meeting curriculum requirements toward Medical Technology degrees.
