Diesel Engine Construction. A study of the mechanical construction of all types of diesel engines. The nomenclature specifications are discussed and taught. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Meske 52. Diesel Maintenance Service. A study of the practice and procedure for repair service and general maintenance. Five quarter hours. Winter. Meske 53. Mechanical Drives. A study of transmitting motion from diesel power plants including transfer cases, transmissions, and differential universal joints. Five quarter hours. Spring. Meske 54. Diesel Generator and Motor Construction. A study of the construction, nomenclature, and specification of electrical units used by the Diesel Company to develop traction power. This course includes the product and procedure for making repairs to motor and generator set. Five quarter hours. Autumn. 55. Electrical Controls. A course dealing with the science of testing, diagnosing, installing, and repair of electrical controls. Five quarter hours. Winter. Meske 56. Diesel Power Service and Maintenance. Selection and installation of Diesel equipment, including the construction of bases and other items essential to set up a Diesel power plant. Five quarter hours. Spring. Meske 57. Specialization Course in Diesel Mechanics. Advanced work is given in the various phases of diesel mechanics. Five quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer. Staff Trade Technical 61. Principles and Operation of Diesel Engines. Cooling, fuel injection, or air starting valves, and temperature control. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Meske 62. Fuel Injection Systems. A study of fuel and types of injection systems including fuel, ignitions, and combustion of fuels. Ignition and injection, disturbances in process of combustion, and atomizing of the fuel are stressed. Five quarter hours. Winter. Meske 63. Drive Mechanisms.
