Show Vocational Agriculture The following courses lead to a terminal certificate in Vocational Agriculture: 51, Floriculture. A course designed to aid those interested in care arrangement and marketing of flowers. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter. Staff 54. Plant Propagation. A program designed to help the home owner or farmer in propagating flowers, trees or shrubs to be used around the home, on the farm or in the garden. Four quarter hours. Autumn, Winter. Staff 57. Practical Pest Control. (Insects). A program designed to aid farmers and home owners in the control of insect pests of the home, garden, farm, or livestock. Three quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 58. Practical Pest Control. (Weeds.) A program planned to aid the farmers or home owner in the control of weeds on the farm or in the garden. The use and methods of application of new weedicides will be discussed. Three quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 61. Garden Soil. A course designed to aid the gardener and farmer in choosing and managing soils, fruit and vegetable soils. Three quarter hours. Autumn, Winter. Monk 64. Practical Irrigation. A program planned to aid the farmer, gardener and horticulturist with irrigation problems. Methods of water application for orchards, gardens and farms will be discussed. Three quarter hours. Autumn. Monk 67. Practical Fertilizer Use. A program designed to aid the farmer in buying and using fertilizers. Types of fertilizers to be purchased and methods of fertilizer application will be emphasized. Three quarter hours. Autumn. Monk 71. Practical Livestock Feeding. A course to aid livestock farmers in the choice and use of feeds and in the modern methods of feeding livestock. Five quarter hours. Autmun, Winter. Staff 74. Horse Care, Training and Feeding. A program designed to aid horse enthusiasts in the selection, care and training of horses. Included is information on selection and care of equipment needed. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 76. First Aid to Farm Animals. A program designed to aid all people interested in livestock, in the prevention and control of infectious diseases, and in the care and treatment of wounds and injuries of all types of livestock, including poultry. Two quarter hours. Autumn, Winter. Staff 78. Practical Poultry Management. A program designed to aid the farmers in poultry brooding, feeding, sanitation and culling of their flocks. Four quarter hours. Autumn, Winter. Staff 79. Practical Dairy Herd Management. A program designed to aid farmers in the use of dairy equipment and in the general practices in the feeding and management of a dairy herd. Four quarter hours. Autumn, Winter. Staff 81. Practical Marketing of Livestock. A program planned in cooperation with all the marketing agencies of the area to train those interested in buying and selling livestock at the stockyards. Three quarter hours. Autumn, Winter. Staff 83. Practical Marketing of Fertilizer. A program designed to aid fertilizer dealers in better serving the needs of the farmers of the area. Three quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 85. Farm Home Ground Planning. A program to be worked in connection with greenhouse and nurserymen in buying, using, and caring for shrubs around the home. Three quarter hours. Autumn, Spring. Staff 86. Farm Bookkeeping Records, A program designed to acquaint the farmer with the fundamentals of accounting with particular application to the business of farming. Included will be record keeping and project analysis. Three quarter hours. Autumn, Winter. Staff 89. Utah Farm Law. A course designed to give the farmers a guide whereby simple important principles of law can be made available to them in plain, readable language. The class is designed to inform the student of his legal rights and liabilities. Three quarters. Autumn, Winter. Fuller 91. Farm Woodwork and Building. A program planned in cooperation with farmer advisory group to help the farmers solve their building repairs and through actual work the farmers get a knowledge of the mechanics of building construction.
