Show 106 To secure a private pilot's license a student must pass a CAA test in flight and ground school. AERONAUTICS COURSES OF INSRUCTION Ground School 1. Civil Aeronautics Regulations. A course of instructions in the rules and regulations of the Civil Aeronautics Administration and the State of Utah, including registration and certification of aircraft and personnel, flight, rules and air traffic rules. One quarter hour. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 2. Meteorology for Pilots. A course of instruction in those aspects of the science of the atmosphere that affect the safe operation of aircraft, and the facilities and services of the Federal Weather Bureau. Two quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 3. Aerial Navigation. A course of instruction in navigation problems, methods, instruments, facilities. Two quarter hours. Winter. 4. General Service of Aircraft. A course in the general servicing, operation, certificiation, etc., of aircraft. One quarter hour. Spring. Staff Flight School Flight training is provided through CAA licensed flying schools in Weber College territory. A special fee is required for flight training. 10. Dual Flight Instruction. Ten to fourteen hours of dual flight instruction in CAA licensed aircraft. Learning the fundamental controls, maneuvers, and operation of aircraft. Prerequisite: Aeronautics 1. (May be taken concurrently). One-half quarter hour. Autumn, Win- 11. Solo Flight Training. Fifteen to eighteen hours of solo practice, mastering the fundamental maneuvers and controls of aircraft. Prerequisite: Aeronautics 1, successfully passed, a CAA solo license, Aeronautics 10, and enrollment in the current ground school course. One-half quarter hour. Autumn, Winter, Spring. Staff 12. Solo Flight Training. Fifteen to eighteen hours of solo flight, perfecting maneuvers. At the completion of this course the student is expected to be able to pass the CAA flight test for a private pilot's license. One-half quarter hour.
