Extra-curricular Activity Program Play Production Play production at Weber College is under the administrative guidance of the Division of Humanities and is sponsored directly by the Department of Speech and Drama as Weber College Theatre. The major season of plays consists of a major play presented each quarter of the year under the direction of college staff, but combining the acting talents and services of both college and community people. Currently, during each winter quarter a musical, presented in collaboration with the Department of Music, takes the place of a major winter quarter play. Arena Theatre productions are presented, one each quarter, under the direction of college staff. Other plays, prepared as an outgrowth of work in directing classes, may also be presented in the Arena Theatre to invited audiences. Also, as a part of the Weber College Theatre program, such productions as the following are encouraged: Plays prepared for tour during the spring quarter and presented to school audiences in Ogden and the immediate area; plays prepared for presentation at selected points over the state; summer plays produced in cooperation with community organizations. These productions intend to satisfy theatre needs of both adult and children's audiences. 129 |
