Staff Department of Vocational Agriculture Instructor Allen Stephens This program is designed to meet the neeaa of the young farmer who is attempting to establish himself in the business of farming and who desires aid in acquiring skills and understanding which will help him to make satisfactory progress in farming. During the summer, spring, and autumn, instruction is given at the individual farm of the young farmer. The practical farm work is thus coordinated with laboratory and classroom studies. Special farm visits are part of the total program. A Master Farmer Certificate is offered to those who qualify. The candidate for this certificate shall (1) be regularly registered in the Young Farmer Program in Vocational Agriculture; (2) have completed at least 6 credit hours of class instruction each year for five years, with not more than 15 credit hours in Farm Mechanics, and (3) have completed any additional requirements prescribed by the advisory and curriculum committees. In addition to the specific classes offered, the young farmer organization conducts monthly meetings at which programs of current interest in agriculture will be presented. Courses of Instruction 1.
