Show 112 WEBER COLLEGE Courses of Instruction Physical Education 1. Elementary Personal Hygiene, Elementary Gymnastics, and Tumbling for Men; Elementary Personal Hygiene, Gymnastics, Games, and Swimming for Women. This course is designed to furnish a motive for right living, correct posture and proper physical habits. Autumn Quarter. Three days a week. One quarter hour. Physical Education 2. Personal Hygiene and Swimming for Men; Personal Hygiene, Basketball, Light Apparatus and Advanced Swimmng Strokes for Women. Wnter Quarter. Three days a week. One quarter hour. Physical Education 3. Personal Hygiene, Tumbling, Pyramid Building and Apparatus for Men; Personal Hygiene, Elementary Dancing, Drill, Outdoor Games and Competitive Swimming for Women. Spring Quarter. Three days a week. One quarter hour. At the close of Physical Education 3, a Spring Festival is given as a culmination of each course. This festival is generally known as "The Gym Circus." Physical Education 4. Advanced Swimming. This course covers the development of form in swimming strokes and dives, and the method of life saving. Autumn, Winter or Spring Quarters. One quarter hour. Physical Education 5. Competitive Athletics. Football. Autumn Quarter. One quarter hour. Physical Education 6. Competitive Athletics. Basketball. Winter Quarter. One quarter hour. Physical Education 7. Competitive Athletics. Boxing, wrestling, track, tennis. Spring Quarter. One quarter hour. Physical Education 8. Interpretive Dancing. A beginning course in the fundamentals of dancing. Autumn Quarter. One quarter hour. WEBER COLLEGE 113 Physical Education 9. Interpretive Dancing. Intermediate course. Winter Quarter. One quarter hour. Physical Education 10. Interpretive Dancing. Advanced course. Spring Quarter. One quarter hour. *Physical Education 11. Tap Dancing. Fundamentals of Tap Dancing, Waltz, Clog, and standard time steps will be developed. Autumn Quarter. One quarter hour. *Physical Education 12. Tap Dancing. More intricate features in Tap Dancing and the ability to originate routines will be developed. Winter Quarter. One quarter hour. *Physical Education 13. Advanced Tap Dancing. Intricate amateur and professional routines will be developed, as well as the ability to teach them. Soft shoe, Buck, and 'Buck and Wing' combinations will be mastered. Spring Quarter. One quarter hour. *A special fee will be required of all who register for Tap Dancing. The amount of the fee will be determined by the number enrolled. STUDENT ACTIVITIES In conjunction with the department of Physical Culture, the following activities are organized and supervised: Archery, Hiking, Skiing, Tobaganning, Tennis, Football, Basketball, Track, Wrestling, Boxing, Acrobatics, Tap Dancing, and Dancing. Frequent socials, dancing, and class parties are given throughout the year under the supervision of this department. |
