Show General Education 9 credit hours in the Humanities; at least 9 credit hours in the Social Sciences; at least 9 credit hours in the Life Sciences; at least 9 credit hours in the Physical Sciences; and at least 4 credit hours from the fifth area of "Other". BACHELOR OF GENERAL STUDIES REQUIREMENTS In addition to the requirements concerning total hours, upper division work and approved hours in the student's three concentrations, a candidate for a Bachelor of General Studies shall complete, as general education area requirements, at least 40 credit hours in the five areas of Humanities, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences and "Other." The candidate must take at least 8 credit hours from each of the above five areas. GENERAL EDUCATION The General Education Program described in the following sections is required of all students who receive a bachelor degree from Weber State College. Satisfaction of Area Requirements by ExaminationAll students are eligible to take the CLEP (College Level Examination Program) battery which, if passed satisfactorily, will satisfy the general area requirements. (See CLEP under Testing.) Satisfaction of Requirements by Advanced Placement CoursesStudents who have completed advanced placement courses in high school and passed the Educational Testing Service examination with acceptable scores 5-4-3, will be granted 12 hours of credit for each and will be given general education credit where applicable. Transfer Credit in General EducationStudents who transfer from state supported institutions in Utah, automatically clear the College's General Education Program if they have completed requirements outlined by the former institution. Transfer students who are not in the previously described classification need to carefully review the general education requirements listed in this catalog. GENERAL EDUCATION AREA REQUIREMENTS Humanities Area The general education area requirements in Humanities mav be satisfied by selecting from the following courses. (A) A candidate for the Bachelor of Arts must complete at least 15 hours from at least four groups, one of which must be Literature, Group VI. (B) A Candidate for the Bachelor of Science must complete at least nine hours from at least two groups, one of which must be Literature, Group VI. A candidate for the Bachelor of General Studies must complete at least 8 credit hours from two groups, one of which must be Literature, Group VI. I.
