Marriott-Slaterville History April 2006 Marriott-Slaterville was one of the 44 Utah cities to earn the designation of a 2005 Tree City USA. The award comes from the National Arbor Day Foundation. Thanks to our community leaders and all citizens who work to beautify our city and keep this important designation. Pioneer Elementary School held a health fair and walk-a-thon night on April 20, 2006, with about 250 in attendance. Bits and Pieces LaRee Shurtliff celebrated her 90th birthday at an open house held on April 8, 2006. William Henry London, Jr. died on April 18, 2006, at the age of 73. George Seiichi Yoshida passed away on April 24, 2006, at the age of 94. Quenton Jones and Lindsey Slater, two of our "innovative" young citizens, made the news as they attended the recent Fremont High School Prom as ducktaped Cinderella and Prince Charming. Their lavish attire was covered with ducktape--now that's a record new use! (They had to be cut out of their clothes at the end of the day, and reported that they were very warm at the "fancy dress ball.") Cody Heslington played Sonny in Wahlquist Junior High School's recent performance of Grease. Stephanie George was also involved in the production. Summer Okey was the 2nd attendant to Miss Weber County, and received the most photogenic award. Kade Stanger is a member of the Fremont High School Soccer Team. Aaron Hunsaker received an Honorable Mention at the Weber State Science Fair.
