Show The Pioneer Post Volume VIII Issue 9 Marriott-Slaterville City Newsletter September 2006 1570 West 400 North - Phone 627-1919 Computer Classes for Senior Citizens Two courses of computer classes will be offered at the Marriott-Slaterville Senior Center for senior citizens. Course 1: basis class on using computers. Course 2: using your computer for genealogy. COURSE 1. The basic computer class will cover three main topics: 1) using the computer, 2) introduction to word processing, and 3) using the internet. The class will meet twice is September. Each class is half an hour. An instructor will be available to answer computer question during the class. There is a limit on the number of students in the class, so contact the city office for more information and to register. COURSE 2. The computer genealogy class will be once a week for three weeks, and last about an hour. Students will learn how to use the computer for family history. There is a limit on the number of students in the class, so contact the city office for more information and to register.__ CERT TRAINING Harrisville City will be providing Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training for residents interested in becoming part of the CERT Team. The CERT training course will begin September 14, 2006 and continue each week until October 26, 2006. Please contact Edd Caulford at 782-5555 for more information and to register. The cost is $25 which is refundable upon successful completion of the course. "Every Child Needs a Good Home" A Foster Care Opportunity Milestone Counseling is still looking for good parents interested in foster care opportunities. Foster parents will help disadvantaged children learn what it is like to have a good home. "Nothing could be more important to our communities than to see that these children learn to be good, productive people," says Brian Campbell, Milestone's managing member. "My staff is dedicated to bringing children and healthy home experiences together." Milestone offers full service support and counseling to assist foster parents. Foster parents and children have regular support meetings and follow-up visits. The company is looking for people who care about children and want to make a difference.
