Show Sunday, September 25. Looks much like serious War in Germany & check Country. We all went to Sabath School. Oertel & children Carol & Robert up to the 12 Ward. Dr, Oscar & I to the 18 Ward. It is a warm day so we have stayed inside most all afternoon. Took a ride up to Huntsville this early evening. Saw Apostle D.O. McKay and wife there at their summer home for a few minutes. War conditions seems Europe Today War looks quite probable in Europe. Americans are warned to flee Check land and our missionaries are anxious as to what they will do. Just now they are in Norway temporarily Bro McKay said. Germans deny Guarantee of Check border. In Eng. Boms are distributed to all Air Force Centers. Flood Centers in New Eng States are in a bad condition, Red Cross helps to end danger of Epidemic. We heard Leland Monson in 6 Ward tonight. Wrote Mary. Monday, September 26. EVACUATION OF ALIENS BEGUN BUDAPEST, Sept. 24 The American legation in Budapest had a train ready today to evacuate United States citizens in an emergency. The British legation made similar preparations. The American train was ready to leave immediately for the coast. (Trieste, Italy, on the Adriatic sea is the nearest port). The legation advised all American citizens in Hungary to leave immediately if they could manage to do so. The Hungarian Czechoslovakia border was closed. Czechoslovakia and Hungary rushed military preparations in the frontier area. It became certain that there was no communication with Czechoslovakia. The frontier, even on the Hungarian side, was sealed. |
