During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Tyler Ornamental Iron and Bronze Australia, it looked like the makings of the darndest lawsuit you ever heard. But it all turned out to be quite peaceful. The American National Club there has been comfortably located in an old three-story house on one of the city’s main streets. The club also owned two similar houses, one on each side. The three parcels of land made a very valuable building site, in the middle of much taller downtown buildings. The club made a deal to trade the three- house site to a property development com- pany, in return for title to the top three stories of a tall office building the company proposed to erect on the site. The usual difference between a good piece of work and a poor one is plain personal effort. The British use the word “‘decent” to mean something a little different than we usually do, and the meaning is a useful one. We ordinarily use it to mean the opposite of “indecent’’—as in expressions such as decent conduct, decently dressed, decent language. In English, as contrasted with American, the word is most often heard in the expres- sion, “‘a decent chap.” If you call someone the new building will be this in our particular social set you are likely to get belted right in the chops, but across the Atlantic it seems to have a commendable meaning. A “decent”? man is a man who makes life a little easier for everyone else. He’ll let you use his car if yours is in the shop over the week-end. When there is a line-up at a ticket window, he takes his place in line with no stairs to its three floors. Then the old house with work, he’ll stay at the office a little late lem of where to operate, and was unable to find adequate temporary quarters. So it was worked out that the new office building would rise on the two outer house-sites. Once built above the top of the club’s house, the two sections would be bridged together, and con- struction would continue upward from there.
