Augtist ob1964 Death Takes Prominent Businessman, Leader Jay Gould Stone, of 2804 Ma-/ lan, prominent church and . businessman, civic worker, died Friday evening at a local nursing home after an extended illness. He was 72. - Mr. Stone was associated with Ogden Iron Works until his illness and formerly was assist-| ant general manager and secretary of the ACTIVE - Active in Mr. Stone firm. IN COMMUNITY community affairs, was a member of the Ogden Chamber of Commerce, former secretary and vice president of the Ogden Kiwanis Club and a representative on the district committee for Kiwanis International. He had been president and regional representative of the Utah! Purchasing Agents Association and was a member of the Ogden chapter of the Sons of Utah Pioneers. Mr. Stone was born March 16, 1892, at LaBelle, Idaho, a son of Friend and Josephine Johnson Stone. On March 18, 1914, he was married to Florence Priscilla Middleton in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a member of the LDS Church and held many offices including counselor in the North _ Weber Stake presidency, secretary and assistant superintend- ent ofthe stake Sunday School board. He served in the presi- dency of the high priest. quorums in the Mount Ogden and East Ogden stakes, was a member of the ward finance committee and for many years was gospel doctrine teacher in the Highland Ward, At the time of his death he held the office of high priest, — SURVIVORS LISTED Surviving are his widow, the following son and daughters: Lowell M. Stone, Ogden; Mrs. Seaman §. (Opal) Mills, Boise, Idaho; Mrs. Rodger R. (Grace) Sears, Washington Grove, Md.; eight ‘grandchildren; one ‘greatgrandchild; two grandcheldren: two brothers: Jewell F. Funeral will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Forty-third Ward chapel, 1641 26th, with Bishop O.
