No physician ever fulfilled the Oath of Hippocrates with greater sincerity; "I Do solemnly swear by that which I hold most sacred, that I will lead my life and practice my art in uprightness and honor, "' Now, on his ninety-sixth birthday, we can all say of Doctor Rich that he has not only reached this great age, which is a tribute in itself to the care ercised in living, he has ex- but that he has also filled the years with a loving service to mankind memory fresh for generations, that wil! keep his William J, Dermody has reached a hundred years, a triumph realized by so few, but he has also reached it with enormous credit, which must have been a source of tremendous satisfaction during the last few years of his retirement. A great scientist, | Alexix Carrel, kept a section of heart muscle alive and beating from 1912 until his own death in 1944, He said it could have been kept alive indefinitely. Many lives have meant no more than just keeping the heart beating. But Bill's heart has been beating for a hundred years to bring encouragement to the afflicted, and to fill their lives with hope. | Our congratulations to these two great per sonalities. |
