Friday, January 14. My brother William Earnest Cozzens died this A.M. at four or five in the Montpelier hospital or Rich Lindsay Clinic of pneumonia after eight days in bed. Was seriously sick from the first. Have spent the day with Olly his wife and his son DOrr arranging for the funeral undertaker Frank Williams will have charge. The service will be held in Montpelier First Ward of which he was a member until he was about thirty years old. He has been sick with heart trouble and discouraged the past year. He was my second oldest full brother and was sixty two years old. He leaves five children by his first wife Martha Brown who died sixteen years ago and three by his present wife Olly Wood whom he was married in 1922 Nov 22. He filled an honorable mission in the Southern State Border. Saturday, January 15. Have spent today here on the Ranch with Olly. She and DOrr spent the day looking over papers. I did the work and prepared meals. This is a dreary place. She must move from here in the spring. DOrr and I drove back to Montpelier this evening. I stayed at Ed. Riches home. Felt very much at home. Went over to the undertakers to see Will in his casket he looked nice and many friends called during the day.
