This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Sunday, January 16. Slight snow. Funeral Services were held for my brother William Earnest Cozzens at 12 noon in the First Ward Chapel in Montpelier. The Bishop of Raymond presiding. The house was very nice. Lovly flowers also. Pres Ed. C. Rich Dr Edward I Rich Bro Mumford of Raymond and the Bishop were speakes. Cleone played a violin solo and a male quartet sang several selections. He looked very nice in his robes. But he had suffered so much he was very thin. Many friends were so hospitiabe and kind. His pall bearers were of his close friends and honorary pall bearers the Chorum of Seventy, of which he had been a member. After a nice dinner at Ed Richs we joined the rest of our family and drove to Ogden were Olly Donald & Wife Flora & husband & Glee stayed with us all night. Donald brought Wills Casket down in his truck it was too late to go on to S.L.C. Dr Cleone Myrene & Harriet drove up to Bear Lake this A.M. Monday, January 17. At nine A.M. we went to Salt Lake City to bury my brother Wills body. It is a nice day. We were met by about 20 relatives at the grave side. His request was to be buried there by his wife Mattie. There were many beautiful flowers. Dr dedicated the grave Matties Mother Sister Brown, three sisters her brother and others of their family were there. The folks, Mae, Grace & Ethal had prepared lunch so we ate visited a while at Maes home & returned, Donald, Flora, and Olly went to Sister Browns and then drove home to Bear Lake. Some of them were after 12 P.M. reaching there a snow storm made it bad traveling but all felt they must get back. Dr and I came home from Salt Lake about 4 P.M. |
