Show Saturday, July 23. The parade brought out a big crowd but it was not as good as past years have been. The whole City has a gala apperance. Much to the disgust of the citizens the Mayor has let the City Hall square out to a number of very cheap concessions. The streets are crowded and in the parade the main thing featured is the cow boys & cow girls with their horses who will take part in the Rodeo tonight. Sunday, July 24. Dr went to Sunday school tonight two classes. The Weber Co Pioneers were entertained by Weber Daughters of Pioneers this morning in the Tabernacle. A splendid programme was given Pres. Pearl Foulger presided about seventy five pioneers were present. The guest speaker was Prof. Harrison Merrill of the B.Y.U. of Provo. He gave a wonderful talk on the philosophy taught by the pioneers. A belief in going on thro eternity taking what knowledge one gains here and continuing to learn urged all to live & do right as they had tried to do and thro their efforts had done great things. Cleone and trio played Ed Greenwell sang Hills of Home beautifully & Mrs Mcquarrie sang Old Long Zion. Dr & I went to hear Merrill tonight at Riverdale. |
