NEVILLE, ’33, For more than thirty years Chairman of the Sociology and Anthropology Department at Weber State College has relinquished the role of Chairman and resumed full time teaching in line with College Policy. He was honored at a dinner by his fellow faculty members Weber College Alumnus David M. Kennedy, has been appointed Secretary of The Treasury by President Richard Nixon. Mr. Kennedy, a native Utahan, was born in Randolph, Utah and graduated from Weber College. Active in forensies and student affairs while on campus he was a student body officer in 1923; with a list of accomplishments and credits too numerous to print, including service with the Federal Reserve Board and Special Assistant to The Secretary of The Treasurer, he became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago in 1959. Monson as Standard-Examiner Advertising Promotion Co-ordinator was announced recently by the General Manager. He and his wife, the former Marge Widmeyer, have one daughter, W. VENDELL, ’53, Has been invited to present a paper at The American Institute for Astonautics and Aeronautics fourth Aerodynamic Testing Conference April 28-30 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The paper is a report of Plasma Diagnostic Research performed by Dr. Vendell and two National Aeronautics and Space Administration Scientists. JOHN J. Force Duty completing ’60, Has RONALD LAYTON, ’64, A county health inspector who doubles as Layton’s Assistant Fire Chief and is a Volunteer Ambulance Driver, is credited with saving the life of an 18 year old Layton Youth injured in an automobile accident. HALVERSON, been elected House Majority whip in the Utah Legislature. The Replublican County Chairman, Mr. Halverson, is serving his second term in the State Legislature. Mark (Austad) Evans nationally prominent radio personality and newscaster was the keynote speaker at the annual Chamber of Commerce Membership Meeting held recently. LYNN FOLEY, ’34, Civic Leader and Evans re ALUM-NUS FORMER STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT-ALUMNI PRESIDENT DIES Dr. Russell Petty, well known Ogden Dentist, Church and Community Leader died November, 1968, in a Provo Hospital after a lingering illness. As a student at Weber he was active in student activities and forensics and was elected Student Body President in 1918-19. A prominent Dentist, Dr. Petty was well known for his Civic and Cultural envolvements throughout the State. He served as President of the Associated Alumni of Weber State College during the critical year of its re-organization in 1942-44. His wife Lucille Petty, was a former student and faculty member of Weber College. |
