WEBER COLLEGE 39 Courses of Instruction BOTANY Botany 1. General Botany. A survey of the subject is made which covers the history, functions and structure of the main forms of plant life. The course will satisfy the requirements of those who desire only a general knowledge of the subject and will also serve as a foundation for more advanced work. Three lectures and two laboratory periods per week. Five quarter hours. Botany 2. General Botany. A course in general botany to meet the requirements of medical students. Three lecturers and two laboratory periods per week. Five quarter hours. Botany 3. Seed Bearing Plants. A detailed study of the higher plants will be made with special reference to structure physiology and reproduction. Three lectures and two laboratory periods per week. Five quarter hours. Botany 4. Histology. This is a course in the technique of preparing, staining, and mounting sections for microscopical examination, including the study of plant tissues and tissue systems. Prerequisite: Botany 1 or 2. Three lectures and two laboratory periods per week. Five quarter hours. Botany 5. Plant Relationships and Heredity. In this course a study of plants as to kinds, relationships, development and heredity will be made. Three lectures and two laboratory periods per week. Five quarter hours. Botany 6. Taxonomy. A study in the classification of local spring flowers and training in the use of manuals will be made. Field trips will be taken to gather the plants. Three lectures and two laboratory periods per week. Five quarter hours. Botany 7. Economic Botany. This course deals largely with plants useful to mankind.
