Show Allied Health Sciences Nursing WEBER STATE COLLEGE AND SOUTHERN UTAH STATE COLLEGE/DIXIE Fay Frahske, Coordinator Assistant Professor, Fay Frahske; Instructors, Lorraine Stilwell, Susan Gardner, Lucy Capel, Elizabeth Brown. Weber State College in cooperation with Southern Utah State College and Dixie College have extended the Associate Degree Nursing Program to Cedar City and St. George. These students will take the first quarter general education at either Southern Utah State College or Dixie College. The clinical experience for the freshman year will be in Cedar City, and the Sophomore clinical experience will be in St. George. Only Utah residents are admitted to the program. Applications are made through the Admissions Office at Weber State College. Registration takes place at Southern Utah State College and Dixie College unless there are unusual circumstances. Deadline for applying is February 28 and selection of students is made by April 1. All students must receive written acceptance through the Admissions Committee of the Department of Nursing. Students may appy for admission to the Cooperative Nursing Program by contacting the Coordinator of the Program, Department of Nursing, Southern Utah State College, Cedar City, Utah. Program: Registered NursingAssociate of Science Degree (Southern Utah State College/Dixie) I. General Requirements: A. Specific and General Education course requirements of the college, as outlined below. B. An overall G. P. A. of 2.00 or C is required. C. 93 total credit hours are required. II. Specific Requirements: A. Nursing courses required (must be taken in sequence). 1. First year a. Fall: Nursing 101 (5), 102 (5). b. Winter: Nursing 111 (6), 112 (6). c. Spring: Nursing 121 (6), 122 (6). 2. Second year a. Fall: Nursing 201 (4), 202 (5). b. Winter: Nursing 211 (4), 212 (5). c. Spring: Nursing 221 (4), 222 (5). B. Support courses required: 1. First year a. (Summer courses must be competed before entering fall quarter): Health Occupations 120 (3); Physiology (5): Mic-robilogy (5); Nutrition (3). b. Fall: Psychology (3); Humanities (3). c. Students may elect to fill general education requirements on either campus. EXTENDED BACCALAUREATE NURSING PROGRAM University of Utah in Cooperation with Weber State College Associate Professor Cathryn Mainwaring, Director Assistant Professors, Janice Hassell, Verle Lesnan; Instructor, Mari Lou Steffen; Associate Instructor, Joanne Francis. The University of Utah College of Nursing through collaborative effort with Weber State College has extended the baccalaureate nursing to the Ogden area. Registered Nurses desiring to obtain a baccalaureate degree may do so through this program. General education and pre-professional requirements may be completed at Weber State College or any accredited university or college. Upon completion of the above requirements, students with a cumulative grade-point average of 2.50 or above and no grade lower than a "C" are eligible to make application to register for the clinical nursing courses through the University-of Utah. Clinical facilities utilized in the Ogden area are St. Benedict's and McKay-Dee Hospitals, Hill Air Base Hospital and selected community agencies.
