Show Business and Economics Office Administration Composite Major in Business EducationSee Composite and Interdepartmental Programs. Program: Office Administration Minor for Business and Non-Business Majors I. General Requirements: A. Office Administration minors must achieve a G. P. A. of 2.25 in minor courses. B. Students who have taken Shorthand or Typewriting in high school will be placed in the appropriate level courses by means of an evaluation of their proficiency. Any skills courses that are bypassed may be replaced by elective courses in business. C. Students transferring credits from another institution must take at least one Typewriting and one Shorthand course at Weber State College to verify their skills. II. Specific Requirements: A. Non-business majorsA baccalaureate degree candidate who is not seeking a major in the School of Business and Economics may obtain a minor in Office Administration by completing the following requirements: 1. A minimum of 27 credit hours. 2. Office Administration courses required (eighteen credit hours): Office Administration 103 (3), 123 (4), 201 (4), 202 (4), 301 (3). 3. Courses to elect from (nine credit hours): Office Administration 150 (4), 325 (4), 341 (4), 342 (4), 353 (4), 354 (2); Accounting 102 (4), 202 (4); Economics 101 (5). B. School of Business and Economics majorsIf a minor in Office Administration is desired by a student majoring in the school of Business and Economics, he must complete a minimum of fifteen credit hours (with approval of a minor adviser) from the following courses: Office Administration 201 (4), 202 (4), 301 (3), 341 (4), 342 (4), 353 (4), 354 (2), 355 (3). Program: Business Education Teaching Minor I. General Requirements: A. A grade of C or better in minor courses. II. Specific Requirements: A. Twenty-four credit hours B. Office Administration courses required (eight credit hours): Office Administration 103 (3), 361 (3), 363 (2). C. Emphases to elect from: 1. Shorthand Emphasis (16 credit hours): Office Administration 112 (4) or 112 (4); 123 (4), 325 (4), 341 (4), 201 (4), 202 (4), 353 (4), 354 (2), 362* (2). 2. Accounting Emphasis (16 credit hours): Accounting 102 (4), 202 (4), 310 (4), 311 (4); Data Processing 101 (4). 3. Business Machines Emphasis (16 credit hours): Office Administration 150 (4), 201 (4), 202 (4), 353 (4), 354 (2); Data Processing 101 (3). *Required. 106 Business and Economics Office Administration Program: Secretarial ScienceAssociate of Science Degree (two year program). I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). The state requirement in American History, Government, and Economics does not need to be completed. B. General Education requirements (see index). Exceptionnine hours in the Social Science area. C. Secretarial Science students must have an overall G. P. A. of 2.00 or C. D. Secretarial Science students must have a 2.25 G. P. A. or better in major courses. To enroll in any skill course, a student must have a grade of C or better in the preceding course in the same skill. E. 93 total hours are required. F. Students who have taken Shorthand or Typewriting in high school will be placed in the appropriate level courses by means of an evaluation of their proficiency.
