Show Humanities Music Program: Music MajorBachelor Degree I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). B. Bachelor Degree General Education requirements (see index). C. A minor is required. D. Music majors must have a C or better in major courses. E. An overall G. P. A. of 2.00 or C is required. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 183 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). II. Specific Requirements: A. Music Major 1. Departmental Major a. Minimum of 62 credit hours. b. Music courses required (50 credit hours): (1) Music 110 (5), 111 (5), 112 (5), 260 (5), 261 (5), 262 (5), 301 (3), 302 (3), 314 (5), 315 (5); 410 (2) and 411 (2) or 412 (2) and 413 (2). (2) Six credit hours of private study and six credit hour-: of major ensemble, in consultation with an adviser. 2. Piano Concentration a. Minimum of 60 credit hours. b. Music courses required (44 credit hours): (1) Music 110 (5), 111 (5), 112 (5), 260 (5), 261 (5), 262 (5), 301 (3), 302 (3), 311 (2), 312 (2): 410 (2) and 411 (2) or 412 (2) and 413 (2). (2) Six hours of private instruction, six hours of major ensemble, and four hours of accompanying in consultaton with an adviser. Program: Music Education Teaching MajorBachelor Degree I. Psychology 101 (5) in the Social Science area is recommended for Music Education Teaching majors. C. A minor is not required. D. Music Education Teaching majors must have a C or better in major courses. E. Music Education Teaching majors must achieve an overall 2 25 G. P. A. F. 183 total hours are required for this degree. G. Students obtaining a Music Education Teaching major must satisfy the School of Education Certification Program (see Teacher Education Program). These courses must include the following: Education 195 (1), 300 (3), 350 (3), 363 (3), 364 (1), 495 (15), 499 (5). II. Specific Requirements (select one of these emphases): A. InstrumentalChoral Emphasis 1. Minimum of 79 credit hours. 2. Music courses required: a. Music 110 (5), 111 (5), 112 (5), 216 (1), 250 (3), 251 (3), 252 (3), 260 (5), 261 (5), 262 (5), 301 (3), 302 (3), 314 (5), 315 (5), 320 (3), 425 (4), 426 (4). b. Six credit hours of private study and six credit hours ot major ensemble, in consultation with an adviser. B. Instrumental Concentration 1. Minimum of 76 credit hours. 2. Music courses required: a. Music 110 (5), 111 (5), 112 (5), 260 (5), 261 (5), 262 (5), 301 (3), 302 (3), 315 (5), 216 (1), 250 (3), 251 (3), 252 (3), 423 (4), 426 (4), 428 (3). b. Six credit hours of private study and eighl credit hours of major ensemble in consultation with an adviser (including two hours of chorus). C. Choral Concentration 1. Minimum of 72 credit hours. 2. Music courses required: a. Music 110 (5), 111 (5), 112 (5), 217 (2), 260 (5), 261 (5), 262 (5), 270 (2), 301 (3), 302 (3), 314 (5), 320 (3), 339 (3), 422 (3), 425 (4). b. Six credit hours of private study and eight credit hours of major ensemble in consultation with an adviser (including two hours of Opera Theatre). D. Support course required: Communication 102 (3). Program: Elementary Education MajorsMusic Concentration I. General Requirements: A. Elementary Education major requirements: See Elementary Education. II. Specific Requirements: A. Forty-hour concentration. 1. Music courses required (30 credit hours): Music 110 (5). Ill (5). 112 (5), 216 (1), 301 (3), 302 (3); 314 (5) or 315 (5); 320 (3). 2. Six credit hours of private study and lour credit hours of major ensemble, in consultation with an adviser. B. Twenty-hour concentration. 1. Music courses required (17 credit hours): Music 169 (3). 216 (1). 301 (3); 314 (5) Or 315 (5): 320 (3). two credit hours of major ensemble in consultation with an adviser. 2.
