Show Lela C. Stephens Leia C. Stephens, 80, of 2871 Lincoin Ave., died Saturday, March 14, 1987, at her home of heart failure. She was born Oct. 24, 1906, in Win- _ chester, Texas, a daughter of Madison S. and Addie : #: Collins = Bell é Wormley. She married Perry L. Stephens Aug. 19, § 1946, in Salt = Lake City. He died Jan. 12, 1984. was She reared and eduCated in Texas, graduating from Wiley College in «* : Marshall, Texas. — a She attended Tuskegee Institute in Al- abama. In her early life she taught school in Port Arthur, Texas. In 1941, she moved to Utah, where she began working for Hill Air Force. Base. She retired in,1968 as a management specialist. She had received many awards for her work. _ She was a member of the Embry Chapel A.M.E., where she had taught Sunday School and had written the youth newsletter. She had also been an usher and was a major benefactor of the church. She had served as a church school superintendent, youth guild supervisor and as a member of the Flemming Edmonds Missionary Society. She was also a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 66.
