OBITUARY | : Leetha Mae Queen Ester Sanders Johnson was born on July 30, 1936 in Buckner, Arkansas to the parentage of Mr. Arties Sanders and Mrs. Pearlie Burton Sanders. She united with the churc h at an early age. | | In 1944, she relocated to Ogden, Utah where she joined the Wall Aven ue Baptist Church, now the New Zion Baptist Church. She graduated from Ogden Senior High School, attended the University of Southern California, the Los Angeles Conservatory of Music , and graduated from Pepperdine University in Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. _ | ae Leetha was united in Holy Matrimony on November 13, 1963, to Nathaniel C. Johnson in Las Vegas, Nevada. three children: Larry, Bernard, and Penniston. the Alpha Kappa She was the mother of She was a member of Alpha Sorority; Timpanogas Temple No. 483 where she achieved her P.D.R. and Grand Daughter Ruler honors, served two terms as Daughter, Ruler, and served in different departme nts in ° the organ ization; The Luther Mae E. Adams Temple; one of the — founders .and first President of the Doves Civic and Charity Club; founder of the first Black Debutante Cotillion in the Intermountain — Area; member of the Jay Welch Chorand alserv e;ed as.a.board: : meinber of the Ogden YWCA. She was employed as Program Directorof : the Weber County Department of Aging. She served duti ~ < x > fully‘at New Zion in the Sunday School, Senior Choir, Trustee Board, and wherever and whenever called upon. Leetha was.called HOME on October 22, 1989. She was preceded in death by her Father. : | % In addition to her husband and children, she is surviv ed by her — mother, six grandchi ldren, one sister, two sisters-in-law, and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. 4 | |
