Show OG itwary James (Jim) Edward Dixon Sunrise: January 9,1941 uo x & Sunset: November 1, 2018 : : og a Our cherished and loved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully after battling cancer on Thursday evening, November 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. James was born in Lincoln County, Mississippi to Versie Dixon and R. E. (Reese) Sanders on January 9, 1941. He was the fourth of seven children born to this union. After the death of his father in 1948, his mother married Earnest Lee and the family moved to Utah in 1953. He has been a resident of Layton for the remainder of his life, except for the two years spent on active duty in the Army. Jim attended schools in Mississippi and Utah, graduating from Davis High School in 1960. He attended Weber College for several years after his marria ge. He married Roberta Louise Graham in a ceremony held in her parent’s home on January 13, 1968. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this past January; during those years they shared many happy memories of family reunions, trips with family and friends, several cruises and following the sports and activities of their childre n. They enjoyed gardening and yard work together. Many very dear and fond friendships have been formed f Jim and Roberta say, “Thanks for th e love days.” Jim had a strong faith and belief in [eeue. ‘He was i ore wee AC ive in the New Zion Baptist Church for over fifty years. He served in many areas and his last were as leader of the Le IW Men's chorus and as choir director, Finance Trustee and an active member until his last illness. Jim had a strong love and devotion for family and for people in general with whom he interacted. | He is survived by his wife Roberta, children: Denise (John) Lake, Roderick “Rod” and friend, and Leon (Tiffany): six grandchildren, 2 girls and 4 boys. Siblings: Dorothy MicWee, Lennell (Martin) Avery, J.L. Dixon, S.L (Barbara) Dixon, Maryann Dixon, Versie Dixon Jr., Yvonne (Homer) James, Earnest Lee Jr., Robert Lee, Mark Lee, a step-sister Semjai Riley; two sisters-in-law: Mary (Daniel) Shields and Gloria Jean Brown. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. |
