Show i ‘By yObe Mopson The excitement of the past two weeks has died down a bit, leaving Ben Lomond in better condi tion than before. j - All week, Scots wore plaid te commemorate “Scots’ Week.” The gathering of the clans Monday proved to be a real “laugh-getter” as each ginal clan skit. presented But an ori- Wednesday’s as- sembly turned out to be the high point of the week. Scots witnessed the playing of bagpipes by two professionals from Salt Lake City. As student body president, Gary Madsen said, “It’s the first time I’ve seen a real live one!” After Scottish dances by the cute daughter of one of the bagpipers, Robert Binnie of Ogden offered some Scottish poate and folk songs. Dr. T, Earl Pardoe of the Brigham Young University faculty, rounded out the program by telling a bit of the history of Scot-. land. He explained how Mount Ben Lomond received its name and retold some interesting Scottish stories. True observers of Scots Week were Joe Wise, John Stokes and Richard Thorpe. They turned out in regal splendor wearing the kilts and full uniform. Most students agreed that “Scots’ Week” was a “re-ally big” success. The finishing touch to Scots Week was done in French to the theme of “Caprice de Ma Femme.” The Girls’ dance be- gan at 9 p.m. and adjourned at. 11:30 p.m. Among the proud girls escorting their best beaux were: Lil West and De Ham- son; Karen Stoffers and Bob Booth; Carolyn Read and Richard Taylor; Judy Packham and Larry Jorgenson; Judy Hodson and Jim Gwilliam; Donna Barnett and Oz Halling, and Jeann Bingham and Ronnie Norton. Congratulations to Girls’ Association officers, Sidney Smuin and Coy Adams for making the dance such a gala affair. A mighty happy and grateful school columnist Monday after-| noon received a telephone call| reporting that her had been found. stolen wallet : oe * from The — Hig call from came Mound Fort ‘Nancy Junior After the exciting game with | Davis on Friday, the Scots were invited to attend Davis's Mighty nice of you, Davis Darts. Thanks! . Howard Smith’s New Testament students are busily preparing and readying posters for a contest. It will help students ‘learn more of the New Testament and have fun doing so. Are you best suited to be a forest ranger? Or maybe an auto mechanic? Or maybe even a civil engineer. These ques- tions are answered through the vocational tests all juniors are taking. No writing is involved. all the eleventh graders do is punch a hole in a dot opposite the activity they would enjoy most and what they would like least. It’s really much harder than it seems! | Hf you happen to spot an ROTC eadet carrying a dog biscuit, it’s only because he hasn’t had time to get to the barber. The secret behind this mystery? It seems M.Sgt. Charles Lepley handed out dog biscuits to those in dire | need of a haircut. Hints do have | results! | THOUGHT OF THE WEEK: | It’s a great kindness to trust people with a secret. They feel so important while telling it. |
