Show FProves aan Able Teacher Ben Lomond High Students Visit City Courtrooms By JUDY HACKSON There is nothing like experience to teach a lesson you won’t forget. ig Just ask the senior stu ents of Ben Lomond High School who are studying American problems, They visited Ogden City ‘court rooms and watched actual proceedings first hand. One thing they are sure of, they have a lot better understanding of the problems which come up in court and how they are handled. Ben Lomond’s a_ cappella choir is busy preparing for the solo and ensemble festival to be held soon. Also on the agenda is the production of an operetta which will be presented early in May. Looks as if the musie department and Edward Sandgren, the director, are going to be busy. Again to the musie department. The band will team with Ogden High to present a concert on March 5. The publie is invited and there will be no admission charge. The Junior English classes have begun their outside reading for literature study. Eleventh graders are planning to read | many of the early American clas-| sics with even a few energetic souls going into novels by Ernest Hemingway. Sounds like a great deal of eye work! Miss Margaret Neal claims that sometimes her English classes: “sound like the. Ben Lomond was well represented at the Invitational speech Meet at Weber College on Friday. But names have not been announced yet of those who will represent Ben Lomond in’ the Regional Meet. “No Day for Negroes,” a one act play written by Francis Hall was listed as number one’in the one-act play contest just eompleted. “Suppressed Desires” also received superior ratings while “Joint Ownersin Spain,” and “If Men Played Cards as Women Do” were both judged excellent. Good ratings were: given to “Overtones” and “White Iris.” Six girls who were judged high for their characterizations were Coy Adams, Diane Healey, Linda Bailey, Jerilyn Stephens, Jean Ann Holbrook, Vickie Champneys and Jeri Doherty. Judged superior in 'the male characterizations were Chad Sheffield and Frank Wohl. Tip o’ the Tam to our drama department for producing such fine performers. Mrs. Shirley Heyer’s food classes are becoming acquainted with new vegetables in cookery.
