W, Hust Print it Ben Lomond High School VOLUME 14 OGDEN, Teachers Leave UTAH, WEDNESDAY, MAY NUMBER 7 31, 1967 7: THE YEAR OF THE SCOTS To at It was opening day of school, September 6, and everyone was in a chaos trying to find his classes and opening his new lockers. The new sophomores ran to the office between class _to find out where Room 64 was and if they could change from Algebra II to Fundamental Math. The matinee dance Was a success and everyone got a taste of the new school year. Year's End The following teachers will be leaving Ben Lomond High School upon completion of this year’s teaching. Mike Monson Miss Susan Thompson Mrs. Lynn Trenbeath | On Thursday, September 29, the girls met in the auditorium for the Girls’ Association Tea; the boys went to the gym for | their annual get-together. There the kids met cute little Shal | Whitford and tall, good-looking Leif Silegen, our two A. F. S. students. October 27 brought the PTA back into action from the last year, and the following evening featured the Halloween Dance with costumes ranging from Dracula to Betty Boop. Peter Gillins and Cheryl Fisher starred in the school play, “Our Town,” and so the first term ended. On November 23, the Thanksgiving Dance was held and we got a four-day weekend. The Home Economics Departmen t and Girls’ Association sponsored the Open House (which was televised) on December 1. Christmas vacation was a great relaxer from school studies, but we were rarin’ to go after New Year’s. On January 30 to February 4, we held Scots’ Week with hop scots, marble tournaments, gathering of the clans, and boys wearing kilts. May 26 started off the big show, with the traditional Senior Sluff Day, which ended in sunburns and headaches. Then the 28th everything slowed down to a softer, more tranquil state with the Baccalaureate held at Weber State College. On the 29th the Awards Assembly was held in honor of all outstanding performances of students in many different fields. Then as the final day arrived, the farewell assembly was held with tears and many good-byes not only to friends but to the empty halls that once were crowded and noisy. On April 14 the Junior Prom brought the year to a_ peak. Seniors and juniors had put on their class assemblies and the sophomores decided they didn’t have a chance so—no Sophomore Assembly.
