Show 32 ANNUAL CATALOGUE Requirements for Graduation Weber College grants the title of Associate of Arts, the title of Associate of Science, a Certificate of Business, and a Certificate of Completion. Students who expect to be graduated should arrange their program to conform with the requirements for one of these titles. Requirements for the title of Associate of Arts are: Completion of at least ninety quarter hours of approved college work, exclusive of Physical Education. The college work must include: 1. English 1, 2, 3. 2. Orientation 1. 3. Physical Education 40 and two selected activities. 4. A total of thirteen quarter hours from each of the following groups: Biological Science: Anatomy, Bacteriology, Botany, Hygiene, Physiology, and Zoology. Language: English, Foreign Language, and Speech. (English 1, 2, 3 may count toward five hours in this group.) Physical Science: Chemistry, Geography, Geology, Mathematics and Physics. (A total of four hours of laboratory work must be completed in the Biological Sciences and the Physical Sciences.) Social Science: Economics, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Psychology, and Sociology. 5. A minimum of twenty-five quarter hours of one foreign language or its equivalent. (Three high school units of one and the same language satisfy foreign language requirements.) It is required that students pursuing a major in English, Foreign Language, and Music qualify for the title of Associate of Arts. It is recommended that students pursuing a major in the Division of the Liberal Arts qualify for the title of Associate of Arts. Candidates for the title of Associate of Arts who desire training leading to specialization in Education and Law will find requirements for graduation listed as follows: Education, page 37; Law, page 38. Candidates for the title of Associate of Science who desire training leading to specialization in Agriculture, Dentistry, Engineering, Forestry, Medicine, and Nursing will find requirements for graduation listed as follows: Agriculture, page 55; Dentistry, page 56; Engineer tog, page 54; Forestry, page 55; Medicine, page 56; Nursing, page 56. All science students contemplating work beyond the bachelor's degree should complete their foreign language requirement in their lower division work. Requirements for the Certificate of Business are: The completion of ninety quarter hours of junior college work, exclusive of Physical Education. The completion of a specific curriculum in Business as outlined in the catalogue. Requirements for the Certificate of Completion are: The completion of ninety quarter hours of junior college work, exclusive of Physical Education. The completion of an approved curriculum as outlined by the Dean of Instruction. These certificates are designed for students who desire to complete their formal education at the close of the second college year. Before a student can become a candidate for graduation, his scholastic record must show that he has satisfied the requirements for en trance, that he can fulfill all the requirements for graduation on the completion of the course for which he is registered, and that he has an average of not less than C in all his college work. Before a student can become a candidate for graduation he must have completed thirty quarter hours of residence work at Weber College. Any exceptions to these requirements will be made by the President. All candidates for graduation are required to be present at the Commencement Exercises unless excused by the President. |
