Show 36 ANNUAL CATALOGUE Curricular Organization The curricular organization of Weber College provides for democratic education. The curricula of Weber College are organized into three divisions: The Division of Liberal Arts, the Division of Science, and the Division of Business. A special curriculum may be arranged by the Dean of Instruction to meet a student's individual needs. This curriculum leads toward a Certificate of Completion. Such a curriculum is a feature of the Guidance Program designed for individual education and is distinct from the curricula outlined below. Divisions of the College Weber College offers professional and cultural courses leading toward advanced degrees. The Division of Liberal Arts: Courses in the Division of Liberal Arts lead toward the Associate of Arts Certificate. Included in this division are the following subjects: Education, English, French, German, History, Home Economics, Latin, Music, Orientation, Philosophy, Physical Education, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish, and Speech. The Division of Sciences: Courses in the Division of Sciences lead toward the Associate of Science Certificate. This division comprises the courses offered in the Biological and Physical Sciences as well as the professional courses in Engineering and Forestry. The subjects in this division are: Agriculture, Anatomy, Bacteriology, Botany, Chemistry, Engineering, Forestry, Geography, Geology, Hygiene, Mathematics, Physics, Physiology, and Zoology. Weber College offers specially designed terminal, semi-professional, and occupational courses to satisfy the needs of those who are not interested in college graduation. The Division of Business: Two distinct types of curricula are included in this division: The courses in Economics and Business which lead toward the Associate of Science Certificate, and the strictly terminal or semi-professional courses which lead toward the Certificate of Business. The aim of the curricula in this division is to qualify men and women to enter business as a profession. WEBER COLLEGE 37 College and Professional Curricula The following courses are suggested for the guidance of students who desire to complete their lower division requirements for the study of professional and college courses. Students intending to teach in the high school should consult the Department of Education regarding the substitution of courses and requirements for specific colleges. |
