The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show MONDAY, JAN. 2, 1893 A pleasant day, but a little wet underfoot. A general day of parades in this city. All of the principal streets are crowded with people watching the parades. I was out on the streets a little while, but have read most of the day. Some of the boys have returned from the trip home during vacation. Ezra is busy dissecting a head and is reading anatomy while in the house. Received a paper from home but no letters; but they will probably come tomorrow Nothing special going on in this city. 32F TUESDAY, JAN. 3, 1893 College opened this morning with a good attendance: nearly all of the boys have gotten back and are in high spirits. The weather is very cold but pleasant. Kien gave a fine lecture this morning on Brain Surgery. Prof. Montgomery did a resection of the Coccyx and a part of the Sacrum; taking out about three inches of the rectum and making an artificial anus; because of a cancer of the rectum. A fine operation and well done. Received a letter from mother this evening saying they have very little snow at home, but that Lorenzo has Pneumonia: all the others well. |
