Show SATURDAY, JAN. 14, 1893 Was called out in the middle of the night to see a colored woman in the very toughest part of the city. The woman and four children were in the same and only bed in the house. A very small dirty room; a small fire in the fireplace; a small lamp without a chimney: no table: one chair: a filthy bed: This my first labor case never having seen one before. I got along splendidly: delivered the woman of a premature dead stillborn child and with her consent brought it home with me and Ezra and I dissected it A great experience. Attended the lectures at college Wilson lectured on Cholera. SUNDAY, JAN. 15, 1893 Cold weather continues and it snowed a little more last night. No calls during the night. This morning Ezra and I went down to see my case. I stopped at 303 a time then came up home for dinner and wrote to mother and went back to the Price Mission and found a call on hand for the north eastern part of the city. A fearfully cold night. I found the people were Armenians and could not understand much English. A woman in her second confinement. A baby girl was born at 10 pm all O.K. I got back to my room by 12 oclock and had a good nights sleep. |
