We will have to wait for the outcome of the season, but as things look now it is most promising. The cross country teams of the past years that have brought honor to the school appear to have a capable successor. The only problem is lack of depth. Coach Hislop seems pleased with the starting seven runners, but warns that if anyone is injured the chances grow slim. But if everyone stays healthy, the coach predicts this will be one of the best teams in B. L.’s history. The top runners on the team are: RUSKINS, Craig Parker; BRANKINS, Todd Parker, Roger Burnett, Dave Martinez, and Gerry Walk-er; BRODIES, Randy Venable and Raymond Etcheverry. The Ben Lomond thinclads have won all of their meets this year with various runners from Ben Lomond taking turns winning.’ The Ben Lomond Scots, showing a classy offense and brilliant clutch defense, have remained undefeated in three Region One contests. The Scotties, under coaches Kap, Dawson and Moyes, have displayed at every turn the fighting spirit which brought them the Division championship a year ago. In their first game, Region contenders. the Scots warned that they were, indeed, Weber at Ben Lomond This game was a hard-fought contest which was much closer than the score indicated. Ben Lomond scored the first time it laid hands on the ball. After a Scottish drive stalled deep in Weber territory, kicking specialist Doug Kump went in and booted a 33-yard field goal to stun everyone, especially the Warriors. After this score, the first half was all Ben Lomond. Art Suekawa scored twice to cap long drives, and reserve halfback Stan Shaub electrified the crowd when he took a sideline pass from quarterback Rick Younger and ran 70 yards for a touchdown. In the second half, both teams settled down to a long, hard struggle. Weber fullback Dave Brown finally scored on a short pass over center, but the game was already in the hands of the Scotties. With only seconds remaining, Doug Kump kicked another field goal, and Ben Lomond finished with a 26-6 victory. Ben Lomond at Logan The Scots almost met their match as they traveled to Logan to meet the Grizzlies, featuring highly touted quarterback Brad Smith. Smith quickly showed his talent by.connecting on a screen pass for fifty yards and a first quarter touchdown. The pointafter attempt failed, but Leeann Jed, 6-0.
