QO Obituary - Darnell Green, Sr. Darnell Green, 67, of Sioux City departed this life on Monday, Nov. 1st, 2021, in Sioux City. Darnell was born March 18, 1954, in Ogden, Utah, to Esther and Thelma (Todd) Green. Darnell graduated from Ogden High School. While attending school he qualified to play basketball his sophomore, junior, and senior year in the Utah State Basketball Tournament. During his senior year he qualified to play basketball for the All-State Basketball Tournament. He started his career at Morton/Thiokol Inc where he became a Forman, before leaving to move to Sioux City in 1991. Darnell and Shari (Lightner) were married Sept. 23, 1995. He worked as a youth counselor at West Middle School and retired from the Woodbury County Juvenile Detention Department from July 29, 1994, to March 31, 2016. In retirement he discovered a love for home DIY projects. He enjoyed old R&B music, and spending time with friends and family on the patio where he graciously gave out words of wisdom and life knowledge. He loved his family and friends. Darnell was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Darnell is survived by his wife, (Vincent) Holmes, Darnell Green Shari; four children, Antonette Jr, Jerry Green, and Chivontee Green; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Green Jr, and George (Deloris) Green; five sisters, Mary Dockery, Anna Burnett (Morris) Graham, Queen (Andrew) Lou (William) Thurston, and Gloria Clovin; and many Esther (Olies) Dorby, nieces, nephews, and friends. Darnell is preceded in death by his parents, Esther and Thelma Green; three brothers, Hubert Carter, Rudolph (Tooks) Green, and Jerry Green; and three sisters, Thelma Sue Dillard, Agnes Polite, and Bernice Tooks. 0 aD Memorial Service - Saturday, November 13, 2021 Marshall White Center - Ogden, Utah
