INTRODUCTORY. In presenting this, the ninth edition of R. L. Polk & Co.'s Ogden City Directory, the publishers desire to call the attention of patrons and others to the thoroughness of the work throughout. With every facility for the prompt and accurate accomplishment of such a task, and with the experience of more than a third of a century in di¬rectory making, aided by a system perfected by long years of patient study and the assistance of a competent staff, makes it pos¬sible for us to produce a directory that will compare in every respect with any work of similar character in any of the larger metropolitan cities. This volume contains a complete city directory of Ogden—in which is included the names of the residents of all the suburbs ad¬jacent thereto—as well as a large amount of miscellaneous information pertaining to city, county, state and United States officers; banks, churches, colleges and schools, secret and benevolent organizations, etc., etc., as well as an up-to-date classified business directory, in which will be found the names of ail business and professional men of Ogden and vicinity, classified under appropriate headings. This directory contains by actual count, 10,955 names (not including the names of firms or corporations, death or removal notices), which is an increase of 1131 over the number contained in the last edition issued 18 months ago. Using the lowest multiple in vogue in western cities, we estimate the population of the city of Ogden, including all the suburban villages and towns, to be about 30,000.
