Each year the AFS chooses one or more students from a school, depending upon how many homes are available for the students, and sends them to a country overseas, hoping to build unity between the nations. : Out of three applicants, the AFS chose Robert Adams as the finalist in the foreign exchange program. The only problem now is to wait for placement in another country for the summer months or during the school year, whatever he chooses to do. Concerning the program, Robert had this to say, “I’ve always wanted to try to be a foreign exchange student. As soon as I found out about where I could get applications I did it.” He filled out several applications concerning his school, family, and his opinions on various subjects.
