Information Systems & Technologies departmental honors In conjunction with the Honors Program the Inf ormation Systems & Technologies Department offers a Departmental Honors curriculum. This is an enriched major program that provides greater scope for intellectual initiative and independent work. It can be particularly beneficial for students contemplating graduate school, by enhancing their credentials and also by exposing them to the type of study normally done at the graduate level. » Program Prerequisite: Enroll in the General Honors Program and complete 9 hours of General Honors courses. One of these courses must be Honors 3900, Honors Colloquium. The Honors Colloquium courses are 3 credit horus and topics vary from semester to semester (see Honors Program on page 43). » Grade Requirements: Maintain an overall GPA of 3.3. » Credit Hour Requirements: Fulfill requirements for an Information Systems & Technologies Department major. In fumlling these requirements, students must take at least 12 hours of Information Systems & Technologies courses on an Honors basis, 3 hours of which must be completed as a Senior Practicum (1ST 4730). The student may receive Inf ormation Systems & Technologies Honors credit in any upper-division or graduate-level IS&T course.* ' Permission from the department chair must be ing in a course for Honors credit. Program Prerequisite: Generally, all Business and Economics courses with numbers above 3000 require prior completion of ACTG 2010, ECON SS2010, ECON SS2020,1ST 2010 and QUAN SI2600 (unless noted). These prerequisites are referred 181 to collectively as "Business Foundations." All 1ST courses numbered above 3000 require Business Foundations except 1ST 3110. (Refer to the John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics Requirements on pages 157-160.) » Grade Requirements: Even though a minimum grade of "C-" will be accepted in courses used to satisfy the associate's degree requirements (an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher is required). Finally, a course grade of "C-" or higher is required for all business and economics prerequisite courses. » Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 60 credit hours is required - a minimum of 30 of these is required within the A.S. program. Advisement See John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics section of the catalog. All Information Systems & Technologies students are required to meet with a faculty advisor at least annually for course and program advisement. If this requirement is not met, the student may not be allowed to register for classes within his/her major. See an advisor by appointment in WSU Davis 137 or call 801-395-3520. Admissions Requirements An application is necessary for all degree programs and certificates in the John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics. Completion of Business Foundation courses with course grades of "C-" or higher is required for admission and access by majors to upper division Business and Economics courses. General Education Refer to pages 36-41 for either Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts requirements. The following courses required for the Information Systems & Technologies major will also satisfy general education requirements: ENGL ENIOIO and ENGL EN2010 (Composition); MATH QL1050 (Quantitative Literacy); BTNYLS1403 (Life Science); ECON SS2010 and ECON SS2020 (Social Science); ECON All740 is recommended to fulfill the Senate Bill Requirement in American Institutions. 1ST SSI 100, The Wired Society, is recommended to fulfill a general education requirement in Social Science.
