Designing, Estimating and Contracting. A course in designing complete units, estimating the costs of construction and installation, contracting and sub-contracting, city building codes and sanitary codes. Five quarter hours. Spring. Staff Department of Watchmaking The Department of Watchmaking is organized to give instruction in the various phases of cleaning, adjusting and repairing, including the necessary lathe work. A couse in the operation of the watchmaker's machine shop. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 52. Time Keeping Mechanisms. A study of time keeping movements in clocks, electric clocks, and watches. Five quarter hours. Winter. Staff 53. Movement Repairs. A course devoted to bench practice, replacing worn or broken parts, repairing, and making parts. Special experimentation and information is given in position compensation. Five quarter hours. Spring. Staff 54. Machining and Casing. A shop course in manufacturing parts of movements, dial, fitting, and recasing. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 55. Instrument Repairs. A special shop course given to student!? who desire training in the repair and various types of recording of the various industries. Five quarter hours. Winter. Staff 56. Jewelry Design and Repair. A course in the manufacture of jewelry, ring sizing, jewel setting, precious metal casting, engraving and custom work. Five quarter hours. Spring. Staff Trade Technical 61. Theory of Machine Shop Practice. A theory course devoted to the technical phase of lathe work including metals, gears—involute and cycloid, precision measurement, metric system, and screws. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 62. Time Keeping Escapements. A study of the various escapements including a detailed technical discussion of the lever escapement, its bank and drop. Five quarter hours. Winter. Staff 63. Nomenclature and Movement Identification. A course especially designed to give training in naming of parts and how to identify the manufacture of a specific movement and trade marks. Special work is given in setting lever Swiss movement identification. Five quarter hours. Spring. Staff 64. Precious Metals—Heat Treatment. A theory course dealing- with the technical information required to successfully work with precious metals. Special work is given in the heat treating of precious metals and in showing the effects of such treatments. Five quarter hours. Autumn. Staff 65. Instrument Theory. A study of instruments measuring heat, light, atmosphere, humidity, and electricity, etc. Five quarter hours. Winter. Staff 66. Theory of Electricity.
