Show MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY HISTORY SEPTEMBER 2001 The City has entered into an interlocal agreement with Weber County for technical forensic services provided by the Weber County Sheriff's Office. An additional agreement is with the Weber Fire District for services, which will include fire code enforcement, code adoption processes, building and site plan reviews, impact fees and issuance of permits and citations. The Meyerhoffer and Van Leeuwen families have donated funds to aid in the purchase of six monument type entryway signs for the City. The signs were designed by the city with help from an outdoor sign company and will be constructed to meet road standards. They will depict the rural characteristics of our area. The city is seeking funds for the purchase of entryway signs. UDOT has delayed the widening of 1900 West and 12th Street until later because of delays in designing, storm water control and property acquisition. Municipal elections are held during odd numbered years like this year. There were three offices open for filing during July and August. Three residents filed, and all are incumbents; Keith Butler for Mayor, Kim Slater for Council District West, and Delbert Hodson for Council District East. No primary election is necessary this year, and the regular election will be held November 6, 2001. If you heard a great sigh of relief coming from the direction of the City Offices, it was a heartfelt one from William M. Morris, City Administrator. He was notified this month that he had passed the rigorous examinations for admittance to the Bar. Congratulations Bill! Although the City is working on a long term plan for parks in our community, the Marriott Park and the Slaterville Park are owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Anyone wishing to schedule either of these parks should contact the representative of that organization, not the City. The Park Committee worked on compiling the results of its recent community survey, which will be carefully considered at their October 29 meeting. They received 24 suggested names for the park, which were thoughtfully assessed. At the end of the discussion they reduced consideration to two names: Riverside Cove and River Cove Park. After the Committee individually voted, the name Riverside Cove was chosen. Applications are still being sought for the Youth City Council. |
