Show Marriott-Slaterville History January 2007 Ray Bertoldi of Bertoldi Architects, explained the site plan for the First United Methodist Church, which will be built at 1365 West 400 North. It will be approximately 10,500 square feet and fit into the agrarian atmosphere of the city. Project I-15 New Ogden/Weber, or NOW, is adding four additional travel lanes from Interstate 84 to 2700 North in Farr West, including the entire length of the freeway through our city. Six new interchange ramps, 24 restructured bridges, and two redesigned interchange ramps are included in the project. It will also feature aesthetic improvements, new landscaping and technological improvements. It will cost an estimated $246 million dollars, and is expected to be finished by the fall of 2008. An open house was held January 31, 2007, at the Farr West City Hall, with six UDOT representatives and a representative from the Wasatch Front Regional Council available to answer questions. The January 7, 2007, edition of the Standard-Examiner, listed Marriott-Slaterville City as number 9, in the top 10 per capita spenders in the Top of Utah for fiscal 2007. They reported $650 was spent per capita for our city in that period. Bits and Pieces Aly Tobias, daughter of Justin and Jill Tobias, was born on January 14, 2007. Vernal G. Wardell, age 91, passed away on January 25, 2007. The community will miss this quiet man who spent 25 years taking care of the Slaterville Park. He watered the lawn, mowed it for many years, and scheduled activities taking place there. He was always there at the beginning of the activity to assure every thing needed was in place, and came at the end to see that it was clean and ready for the next activity. Recently the bowery at the park was named the VERNAL WARDELL BOWERY, with the name on a plaque at the front of the building. We owe much to his devoted service. Vena Gaylene Stanger Woodring died on January 28, 2007. Colton Meyerhoffer, son of Milo and Janet Meyerhoffer, earned his Eagle Scout Award. J C Oram participated in the Utah Amateur Wrestling Foundation's All-Star Classic. Alta Pierce recently celebrated her 95th birthday. |
