Marriott-Slaterville History July 2007 Bits and Pieces Asia Diana Morris, daughter of City Administrator William Morris and his wife Erin, was born on July 17, 2007. Kinlee Gladys Butler, daughter of Jonathan and Shannon Butler, was born July 18, 2007. Amy Lyn Taylor, daughter of Jacob and Cherilyn Taylor was born July 23, 2007. Alta Pierce, long time resident, died on July 29, 2007. She was 95 years of age. Lloyd and Judy Fuller who were married July 26, 1957, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, with an open house held at their home on July 27, 2007. The John Marriott Family Reunion was held on July 23, 2007, at the Ogden Marriott Hotel. The 12,000 descendants' names were presented on a 150 foot chart. Marriott-Slaterville's Mayor Keith Butler and Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey welcomed those in attendance. Dr. Richard Sadler, a professor of history at Weber State University, and Dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences was the keynote speaker. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Susan Marriott Camp, had a booth at the reunion. Two other booths from the Marriott-Slaterville First L.D.S. Ward featured Marriott community historical information, and homemade candy by Orma Bischoff, Marilyn Stanger, Ellie Syme, Karen Mecham and Kent and Nancy Bates. The committee consisted of Jean Branch, Jill Hodson, Dixie Holmes, Jim Ito, Karen Mecham, and Becki Syme, with help from Trudy Slater, Buzzy Ito, Delbert Hodson, Ron Holmes, Marian Smout, David and Patti Deru, and Marriott-Slaterville City. The Marriott Boy Scout Troop, which was organized in 1935, has been rechartered.
